Create beautiful Tunisian Crochet socks with this comprehensive pattern that contains instructions for 4 lengths and 4 widths.
Featuring an intricate diamond lace pattern and contrasting toe and afterthought heel, these socks are worked in-the-round, with the only seams being the grafting seams for the toe and heel.
Make with any 2 colours of sock yarn, and choose any combination of width and Length to make a pair of socks to suit you!
This pattern is part of the Diamond River Collection of Tunisian Crochet patterns, which also feature the Diamond River Shawl and Diamond River Beanie

YouTube videos are provided to show how the diamond Lace and ribbing are worked. Both written instructions and a chart are provided for the diamond lace pattern
CONSTRUCTION
Using a double-ended Tunisian Crochet Hook, these Socks are worked from the cuff down to the toe, with the heel worked as an afterthought heel. The socks are worked in-the-round, with the only seams being the Grafting seam used to close the toe and heel.
The same colour (MC) is used for the Return yarn throughout. For the Forward Pass, the MC is used for the leg, gusset and foot, and the CC is used to create the ribbed cuff and the contrasting toe and heel. Lace diamonds are created all around the leg and on top of the foot, and for durability, the Tunisian Knit Stitch is used for the toe, heel and the bottom of the foot.

MATERIALS
- 4mm Double-ended Tunisian Crochet Hook
- Stitch Markers – per sock = 1 to mark the beginning of the round, 2 for working the Afterthought Heel
- 2 colours of Sock Yarn in 3 sections – 2 for the Main Colour (Forward Pass and Return) and 1 for the Contrasting Colour (Forward Pass) - see the below for yardage
- Yarn Needle for working the grafting seams on the toe and heel
- Elastic Thread (optional) to weave thought the cuff for a tighter fit
YARDAGE
Yardage varies depending on the width/length you are making but to make a pair of socks you will need:
- between 100 - 175 yards of MC for the Forward Pass
- between 165 - 270 yards of MC for the Return
- between 75 - 105 yards of CC for the Forward Pass
YARN SUGGESTION
To make these Socks I used Hedgehog Fibres Sock (437 yards/400m, 100g, 90% Merino Wool, 10% Nylon). I used the shade Cedar for the MC and Déjà Vu for the CC. You can use any 2 shades of Hedgehog Fibres Sock to make these Socks, and you could also use different CC for the Cuff, Toe and Afterthought Heel – ideal for using up your scraps.
Tip = If you have one skein/ball of yarn that you want to use as the MC, then you can split it and wind it up into 2 balls (one for the Forward Pass and one for the Return) – this is what I did with the 1 skein of Hedgehog Fibres Sock yarn in shade Cedar.
