The sock is knitted in the round from the cuff down, with the Diamond Twist worked on the front of the leg, and the Twig motif worked on the back of the leg, to the heel.

Spare yarn is used to mark the position of the afterthought heel, then the foot is knitted in the round as well as the Star toe, with a few sts to be grafted at the end of the toe. The heel is then picked up from the spare yarn and shaped.

Size may be increased by using larger needles, by using a slightly heavier yarn, or by adding extra sts (in groups of 4) at the side ‘seams’ (make sure to re-centre the front and back motifs), and both the length of the leg and foot can be adjusted by working more / less rounds.

Note that any adjustments will affect the yarn quantity required.

One size To fit an average woman’s foot 23 cm / 9 in long and 20 cm / 8 in circumference (UK 4–5 / Eur 36–38 / US 6–7) when worked at Shetland 4 ply tension.
