Materials and tools.
For this turtle are used Alize Cotton Gold 180 yards (165 meters)/50 grams (1.76
Oz). This is just 50% cotton, for the best quality I recommend 100%.
3 main colors on example and 3 additional colors.
• Main color light purple number 682 100 gr, for replace numbers 533, 513,
522.
• brown color for the shell number 493 less than 100 gr, for replace color 26.
• orange color for the shell number 83 less than 100 gr, can be replaced by
lighter orange color or yellow.
• milky color number 01 for the lips, white color for inner part of the mouth
number 55, powder color 382 for the tongue, last three colors little
quantity.
You can choose your style of the toy. VERY IMPORTANT. The pattern for the head is
suitable only for crocheting in 2 colors!
Hook 1.25 mm or 1,5 mm depends on mark hook and style of your crocheting. I
used Clover 1,5 mm. Choose the hook for yourself. Crocheting should be very, very
tight. For the membranes between fingers I recommend use little smaller size of the
hook.
• Filler holofiber for stuffing. I recommend lightweight and high volume filler,
because the toy is big.
• Flat pliers and cutters for wire and helping with sewing eyelids and
tightening the shell. Tweezers and wood sticks for stuffing.
• Steel wire frame 1,5 mm or thicker and 1 mm for the fingers. Imperatively
recommend only thick steel wire, because in this case the frame should be
very hard. And I am using cotton medical tape – plaster for wrapping the
frame.
• Flat plastic for the shell. I used container from cheese with flat walls. And
durable polyester threads, black Alize Diva on example, but I recommend to
use orange color or brown same the shell color.
• Soft pastel for the body and acrylic paints for the eyes painting. The painting
with soft pastel is very perfect for 100% cotton threads. I don’t recommend
paint on the 100% acryl yarn, and don’t recommend acryl yarn exactly.
• Acrylic varnish for use with soft pastel.
• Brushes for painting, different sizes. Black, brown, grey waterproof liners. If
you choose another colors of yarn you should choose another suitable color
of liners. Look instructions for decorating first.
• White polymer clay or suitable colors for making the eyes. You can take
only white color and tint it or you can take original others color of polymer
suitable with thread colors. I used white color in this case.
• And universal invisible glue, that not leave traces. I recommend Moment
Crystal by Henkel.
• Glass hemispheres for the eyes, diameter 13 mm. Or ready glass eyes with
round pupils.
• Needles for sewing eyelids and long needle for tightening.
• Silicone brush pen for sculpting and modeling.
• For desired use varnish for the sculpt details. I use UV gel polish and UV
lamp.
