Diamonds and Plaid is an asymmetrical crescent shaped shawl knit on the bias and is ideally suited for pairing a variegated yarn with a solid or semi-solid yarn. The sample was knit with Alder Fingering from Round Mountain Fibers in Praying Mantis and Caterpillar Blue. A slipped garter stitch pattern reminiscent of plaid is alternated with a diamond lace. It begins with just a few stitches at the left tip. Stitches are added to the right edge on every row and decreased on the left edge on every right side row giving the shawl its gently curving shape. Be sure not to knit the edge stitches too tight to ensure your shawl can stretch a little during blocking.
