This sock has been designed especially for Heathermaid DK sock yarn. Using other yarns may not give you the same result. The pattern was designed to make one pair of socks using just one 100 gram skein of the main colour and one 20 gram miniskein of the contrast colour of Heathermaid DK Sock yarn.

This sock features a textured stitch forming 8 diamonds up the foot and leg, in a diamond formation. Each size has its own set of diamonds that determines the length of the foot, however extra rounds can be added after the toe is complete to give extra length in the foot. The feature stitch itself doesn’t have a lot of stretch, so this has been counteracted with stretchy garter stitch. Four garter stitch diamonds oppose the textured diamonds on the leg, to maintain equal stretch properties and ease of donning.

Knit up from the toe, the toe itself is a rounded square style which better suits a foot that is broad. The toe could be worked in a contrast colour if desired. The gusset is easy and gives lots of extra room for a broad foot. Also featured is an easy to knit garter stitch heel. It has the look of a traditional help flap heel, but, it is worked in short row style, with figure 8 wraps and turns and a slip stitch so you will have absolutely NO HOLES!

The cuff is a simple, well fitting 2 x 2 Rib, which can be worked in a contrast colour if preferred.
