Knit in the round in a simple lace pattern, this hat makes a quick handmade gift for the Spring newborn. The butterflies are knit separately and sewn on.

THE BASICS

• Pattern includes 6 sizes: Newborn / 3-6 months / 6-12 months / Toddler / Child / Adult

• Pattern is written in ENGLISH and uses standard U.S. knitting terms

• Instructions are for knitting in the round on circular and double pointed needles

• Gauge: 20 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)

• Knitting skill level - INTERMEDIATE

SKILLS YOU’LL NEED

• Knitting in the round

• Basic increases and decreases

• Knitting I-cord

SUPPLIES YOU’LL NEED

• Approx. 90 to 180 yds (82 to 165 m) DK or light-worsted weight yarn for hat

• Several yards (m) of Sport-weight yarn for EACH butterfly

• Scrap pieces of fingering weight yarn for in black for antennae

• U.S. size 6 (4 mm) 12” or 16” circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge

• U.S. size 6 (4 mm) double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge

• U.S. size 2 (2.75 mm) double-pointed needles

• Stitch marker

• Yarn needle
