This pattern was written to fit an average sized head (mine!), which is 22 inches around. I calculated the stitches requires by realizing my socks are 72 stitches around and my leg at the top of the sock is 11 inches around. Pulling the Dickey on, it fits snugly (not tightly) around my head as I pull it down, and the ribbing makes it comfortable around my neck.

A Dickey is common winter wear in northern climates, good for warmth as well as wind protection, without having to wear a scarf that might fly loose or become caught in something if not secured.

Unlike a full turtleneck sweater or undergarment, the dickey can be worn on the way to work (like waiting outside for a bus), and then quickly pulled off once you reach the office, without having to fully undress. Very convenient.

Many dickey patterns are available in sport or worsted weights, but not too many in sock yarn or fingering weight. The Dickey Too pattern solves that problem.

Also, it features a longer-than-normal front bib, although you can shorten or lengthen the bib front as needed.
