The pattern was inspired by 1898 hat.

The adopted idea of shaping and knitting flat of the band part of the hat has been changed to provide for more coverage where important; back of the neck and ears.
Also in addition to two layers of garter stitch that the original pattern provided for I have added thickness to the crown by using fisherman’s rib pattern.
The hat should be knit with larger that usual needle to allow for resulting soft fabric.
The hat is stretchy, very warm and cozy.
Finally - the fun factor - Dinosaur (or Shark , if you chose) spikes along the center of the hat will put a smile on a face of any age.

The pattern is written for mostly rigid number of stitches and rows and adjustment for size is done by changing yarn weight.

Pattern is written for 0-5 yo but can easily be adjusted to larger sizes with various weights of yarns as described in the pattern.

Any fiber can be used for this but as always natural fiber or blend is preferred,
