Dire Wolf or Demon Dog
Make your own Dire Wolf! The Dire Wolf is an extinct canine, most well known from the fossil deposits of La Brea in southern California. Dire Wolves were widespread through much of the Americas and eastern Asia during the Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene, dying out around 9,500 years ago. These canids were the size of large modern grey wolves, with their much stronger bite force enabling them to take on larger prey, including buffalo, giant ground sloth, and mastodon. Though they likely looked very similar to modern grey wolves, recent DNA analysis has shown that the Dire Wolf lineage most likely diverged from the wolf-like canids around 5.7 million years ago.
The 63 page pattern includes detailed step-by-step photos and clear written instructions to make an amigurumi-style Dire Wolf in three color options: Solid, Bi-Color, or Tri-Color. Additional instructions for making a snarling wolf/Demon Dog are also included in the pattern. PLUS there is a 27 page printer-friendly TEXT ONLY version at the end of the pattern. This pattern has been fully tested by multiple testers. Includes yarn amounts and hook sizes to make a Dire Wolf using worsted weight yarn.
