Disclosure
This fabulously bold and chunky cowl is such a quick and simple knit—I genuinely knitted mine over a twenty-four-hour period (not taking twenty-four hours to do so…), and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to wear it so soon after starting!
Simple in construction, daring in style, the Disclosure cowl uses large, substantial, wooden beads to set off the smooth lines and stripes of the stocking-stitch fabric.
Who said beaded knitting was only for girls?
I’m currently exploring reclaiming some of the aspects of knitting that are often seen traditionally as being particularly feminine, and instead reimagining them from a more gender-neutral perspective. Lace
and beads don’t have to be dainty—supersize them up, and a lacy texture becomes striking and sculptural. Bring on the massive beads, and you add a unique flavour to your knitting, that you might not have experienced before.
The Disclosure Cowl is perfect for using up any odds and ends of chunky yarn that you might have lying around after finishing another project. I used just two contrast colours for my stripes (aside from the main colour), but if you don’t have enough of any one colour, why not use more? Why not have single-row stripes, and create your own striping pattern? The possibilities are endless.
