This design is my entry into the Artesanitarium Knit Design Challenge Fall
2018. The theme of this challenge is One Skein Wonder.

I have always been inspired by music and all the amazing hats that musical
artists wear. This design is inspired by 2 of my favorite musical artists: Annie
Lennox and Aretha Franklin.

The color and the cable crown shaping are inspired by the video “Walking on
Broken Glass” by Annie Lennox. In this video Annie is wearing this amazing
deep burgundy turban style piece. I remember when I was a kid, wearing a
towel on my head and pretending to be her. Her music is amazing and she
has always inspired me.

The second inspiration came from an Aretha Franklin live performance I saw
a clip of on TV. In this performance, Aretha is wearing this amazing silver
hat. The brim was similar to a basketweave cable and it had a long tail
coming down the side of the hat. It was stunning and I knew the moment I
saw it, that I wanted to incorporate elements of this hat in my design and
that inspired the brim portion of the hat.

The finishing touch is an amazing faux fur pom pom from ThreadHeadKnitsCo on Etsy in Cherry Cola.
