DK Quilted Dishcloth is a double-sided pattern that can be used to make a variety of knitted projects - a coaster, dishcloth, placemat, fragment of a cushion cover, scarf, bag or blanket.

This is one of five designs in my DK Squared Dishcloth Collection. The collection is based on an interesting colourwork technique of creating a two-sided image by alternating DK (double knit) and Garter squares working with two strands of yarn. The yarns are held double for the garter sections, but separated for the DK squares, which have two layers.

There are many ways you can play with DK and Garter squares to create different colourwork and textural effects in this pattern, such as gingham, checker board, or a stitched quilt. You will find five different charts and a few empty grids for your personal designs at the end of this document.

The edges of the dishcloth are decorated with a marled chain, which is incorporated in the cast on, selvedges, and bind off.

YARN
10-15g of cotton, linen, or cotton blend fingering or sport weight yarn in two colours.

TOOLS AND NOTIONS

• pair US 2.5 / 3.0 mm 8 in /20 cm DPNs
• one extra DPN for cast on, at least one size smaller than main needle
• crochet hook for cast on(same size as main needle)
• blunt tapestry needle

GAUGE & SIZE
23 sts x 40 rows = 4in (10cm) in garter st / DK

The dishcloth measures
32 sts x 51 rows = 5.3 in (13.5 cm)

One DK /Garter square measures
6 sts x 10 rows (5 ridges) = approx. 1.0 in (2.5 cm)

Your dishcloth size may differ depending on the weight of yarn chosen.
