DK Sheaves is a beautiful triangular shaped lace shawl, knit flat, top down.

The pattern incorporates two lace stitches, one of which is an eyelet lace I’ve called Sheaves of Lace for it’s likeness to harvested sheaves of grain.

The DK Sheaves shawl may be knit in combination of colours and a variety of different yarn weights to easily accommodate day/night temperatures and seasonal weather changes.

Yarn options:
3 - 4 x 115g Worsted weight yarn, 750m
6 x 50g Sport or DK weight yarn, 750m
7 x 25g Fingering weight yarn, 750m

Needles:
4.5mm needles, circular 80cm or 4 mm for some fingering weight yarns

GAUGE in stockinette (approx.)
Worsted: 18 sts = 10cm
Sport: 19 sts = 10cm
Fingering: 20 sts = 10cm with 4.5 mm, or 22st with 4 mm

MEASUREMENTS vary with yarn weight and # of charts worked.
Shawl measures up to 70 cm length/depth at centre spine x 180 cm width at top, wing tip to wing tip.

The DK Sheaves design inspiration commemorates the historical harvest of grains on the Canadian Prairies, and the harvest of grains throughout the world. DK Sheaves is also my respectful tribute to people of the prairie and those who farm the land, harvesting the grains of life to feed the nation.
