DK Weight Basket-Weave Dishcloths
This dishcloth is super simple to make, and is appropriate for beginning knitters. It is worked in an alternating pattern of purls and knits to create a woven basket-weave effect that looks great on both the front and back. A garter stitch border with a neat slipstitch edge gives this dishcloth a polished and tidy look. The instructions also include an optional loop for hanging. This pattern is easy to adapt for different sizes. To make a blanket or a towel, simply increase the number of pattern repeats between the garter borders.
The dishcloths shown here measure 8.25 x 8.25 inches, and have been worked out of Knitpicks CotLin (brown), and an unraveled sweater made of 100% cotton that I found at a thrift shop (cream). Any weight yarn can be used with this pattern. Just make sure you pick an appropriate needle size for your yarn, and adjust your pattern repeats for the desired size.
