DNA brioche-intarsia
This 2+ or 4 color brioche-knitted work is one of “Keep calm” projects.
It all started as an experiment, whose result you can see.
Imagine possibilities
With this technique you can make anything - from a pocket to a blanket.
You can use one of these motifs or any other compatible motifs.
This pattern is symmetrically expandable and supports addition of more colors.
Between brioche vertical stripes you can insert other lace work in main color…
Unfortunately, this pattern can’t be done in the round.
You need:
1. Intermediate brioche - knitting knowledge;
2. Needles:
- two double pointed needles (DPN’s) US 4/3,5mm
(you can try with circular needle, but I don’t
recommend);
- two cable needles;
- hook, tapestry needle;
3. Yarns (for firmly and tightened knitted):
- shown top, dimensions 87x20cm/34.8”x8”, is made
with 2x50gr, 125m/50gr (~ 250m /~273 yards)
dark blue (main color) mercerized cotton yarn
(“Tina”, St George-Serbia), and 20-30gr of each
contrast color (in the same weight);
- for winter scarf, use woolen DK weight yarn or
according to your choice, with appropriate needles
(for length 175cm/70” and width 20cm/8” you need
minimum 4x50gr, 133m-150m/50gr main-color
yarn, and min. 40-60gr of each contrast-color yarn
(in the same weight); plus add yarn for fringes.
Please note: Sorry, but this pattern is not suitable for beginners knitting skill levels. You have photo/ video tutorials to show important methods/steps/stitches used in this work - if you’re willing to learn something more. Please read this: http://knitting.about.com/od/learntoknit/a/All-About-Knit...
I especially want to thank my on-line friend of needles, Peter - MiG53 on Ravelry - who made a beautiful colorful chart and tested this pattern.
