This hat comes in enough sizes to fit all the teens and adults in your life. Interesting enough to hold your attention, but easy enough for an advanced beginner, this pattern knits up quick. It can be made individually, or combined with my DNA Mitts and DNA Scarf to make a complete set.

Sizes shows as: Small, {Medium, Large}.

Yarn: Worsted weight, 139 {157.5, 176} yds (127, {144, 161} m).

Shown in: Malabrigo Worsted, colorway 117 (Verde Adriana). Worsted weight, 100% merino wool. 210 yds (192 m) per skein. 1 skein used.

Sample Size: Size Medium.

Needles: U.S. Size 9 (5.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular needle. One set U.S. Size 9 (5.5 mm) double pointed needles. Or size needed to obtain gauge.

Optional extra needles: U.S. Size 7 (4.5mm) or U.S. Size 8 (5.0 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular needle for ribbing. Note: I personally don’t use a smaller needle for ribbing, and the sample shown doesn’t use one, but since many knitters prefer to use a smaller ribbing needle, one is suggested.

Gauge: 26 stitches and 30 rows =4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) in k1, p1 rib, unstretched and unblocked. Remember to work your swatch in the round!

Notions: 1 locking stitch marker, tapestry needle, cable needle.
Finished Measurements: All sizes: 10” (20 cm) long with ribbing unfolded. Circumference = Size Small: 15” (38 cm); Size Medium: 17” (43 cm); Size Large 19” (48 cm). Measurements given are unstretched. The hat is intended to be worn with 3” (7.5cm) to 6” (15cm) of negative ease.

Sizing—sizes fit the following head circumference: Small = 16-19” (40.5-48 cm); Medium = 19-22” (48-56 cm); Large = 22-25” (56-63.5 cm).

Sample is Size Medium and shown on a 21” (53 cm) head.
