DNA Mitts
Fun and fast, these mitts make a great gift. The double helix on the top of each mitt stands out clearly, while the ribbed underside and thumb stretch to fit any adult-sized science lover in your life. Gift them individually or as a set with my DNA Scarf and DNA Hat.
Yarn: Worsted weight, 128 yds (117 m).
Shown in: Malabrigo Worsted, colorway 117 (Verde Adriana). Worsted weight, 100% merino wool. 210 yds (192 m) per skein. Less than 1 skein used.
Needles: One set of U.S. size 7 (4.5 mm) double pointed needles (DPNs) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Optional extra needles: U.S. Size 6 (4.0 mm) or U.S. Size 5 (3.75 mm) double pointed needles (DPNs) for ribbing. I personally don’t use a smaller needle for ribbing, and the samples shown don’t use one, but I know a lot of knitters prefer to use a smaller ribbing needle.
Gauge: 34 stitches and 32 rows = 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) in k1, p1 rib, unstretched and unblocked. Remember to work your swatch in the round!
Notions: Locking stitch marker, cable needle, tapestry needle.
Finished Measurements: 8” (20 cm) long. Fits hands/forearms with circumferences between 7” (18 cm) and 10” (25 cm).
