When I think of Rory Gilmore, it’s nearly impossible to not compare her to her mother, as they share so many traits. I see in Rory, Lorelai’s brazen independence and perseverance. I see Lorelai’s care and compassion for others. And yet, I see Rory’s passion in a new and different light, with a softer touch, and her own values and passions, and feel excited for the life of Rory that we have not yet seen.

This beginner friendly cuff-down sock pattern captures everything we cherish about Rory Gilmore. It is soft and sophisticated, but strong, and full of interest for your eyes and your hands. Perfect for any feet and any yarn combination – tonals, speckles, or variegated.

This beginner friendly cuff-down (written and charted) sock pattern recreates the iconic feel of a Luke Danes well-worn flannel shirt with an easily memorized and texture-filled stitch design.

This pattern is perfect for any feet and any yarn - tonal, speckle, or variegated - and would even be amazing as a scrappy sock or using self-striping yarn, with uneven striping of colors throughout to truly mimic the lines on a favorite flannel.

I used about 50g of my colorway “I Am All In” and 10g of a “Luke’s Diner” mini skein. Testers ranged from 107yd to 120 per sock. 100g of the main color and 20g of a mini should be more than enough for a men’s 10.5 sock at my gauge.

The sock is written on a Size 1 needle, although that could easily be adjusted to create the fabric you enjoy for your socks (keeping in mind that changing the needle will change the yardage needed). Additionally, the pattern is written for magic loop, but there is some information included for a 9” circular or DPN to knit in your preferred method.

The pattern is written for a 56, 64, and 72 stitch sock, but the pattern is a multiple of 14, 16, or 18 (depending on your size), and can be easily adjusted with the inclusion of extra stitches to fit your foot. If you need help adjusting your sock to a different size (for kiddos or bigger feet) I’m happy to help you figure out which size instructions to use. Just send me a message or email at thelittlewolfknits@gmail.com.

You will need yarn, a needle of choice, stitch marker (if not knitting magic loop), tapestry needle to close your toe, and any other sock notions you typically use.

I want this pattern to be accessible to all, so it is available at three different price points - please pay what you can!

TeamMax - $5.00
