Dobbs Ferry
When Jill showed me this yarn at Rhinebeck last year, I had instant visions of an Icelandic yoke. A simple, bold motif shows off the tones and texture of Rockwell beautifully, and the classic style gives a nod to the history and tradition that speaks to me in all of Jill’s sheep to skein yarns.
On Dobbs Ferry, a single colorwork motif falls above the bust and appears at the wrist, transitioning into another color at yoke and cuffs. The motif is worked in an accent color meant to pop against the other two. 3/4 sleeves make for a nice vintage vibe. The body of the sweater is simple, easy knitting, and an unexpected staggered double ribbing at the hem that echoes the yoke and cuff motif.
I’m wearing mine a little slouchy (+3.5” of ease), but this is a good shape to wear with almost any amount of ease. You can choose a smaller size for a more fitted silhouette. The sweater is easily modified for length, width, shaping or long sleeves and as always, instructions are in the pattern so you can do so.
Below are yarn quantities per size:
Main Color:
700 (775, 825, 900,975, 1025)/(1105, 1175, 1225, 1300) yds / 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 4)/(4, 5, 5, 5) skeins. Some testers needed their last MC skein, some did not on these 2 sizes. I estimated them with the extra yardage to be sure. Shown in Lavender.
Hem/Yoke Color:
150 (150, 175, 175, 200, 200)/(250, 250, 275, 275) yds / 1 skein. Shown in Rose Petal.
Accent Color: 75 yds / 1 skein. Shown in Cloud.
And if you have leftover yarn, there’s a special discount code for 50% off the Dobbs Hat that will work with previous or current purchase of the sweater pattern!
To pick your colors, go to Jill’s Etsy shop! She added a whole bunch of Rockwell - and if you miss what you want online, she’s having an Open Studio in Kingston on the Saturday of Rhinebeck weekend with lots more…. I’ll post details in my Rav group and I know Jill will post them in hers.
