Dockside Cable Scarf
♫ The Music ♫
Fiddler’s Green in an Irish ballad that begins: “As I walked by the dockside one evening so rare, To view the still waters and take the salt air, I heard an old fisherman singing this song…”. The ballad tells of the ultimate resting place imagined by sailors, a place of perpetual mirth, music and dancing.
This scarf features an intricate oval and diamond central cable flanked by a rope cable and narrow garter stitch border on each side ~ wear it as a long scarf or multi-wrapped as a cowl. With over 5’ / 1.5m of scarf, there’s lots of warmth to be had.
Try it in denim blue for a casual outfit, black for formal or natural, as shown, for that classic Aran look. A great unisex scarf!
Stitch patterns are both charted and written out.
The B&L Heritage yarn label gauge: 17 sts = 4” / 10 cm on 5mm / US8 needles.
Hat glimpsed in picture is the Double Lyre Hat; pattern now discontinued.

- This version corrects an abbreviation anomaly in the Written Directions for the chart: the cable abbreviations for the 2/1 purl cables should read 2/1 LPC and 2/1 RPC (not 2/1 LCP and 2/1 RCP respectively as shown.)
