With this very detailed pattern, you can make a super cute German Shepherd dog or puppy. This .pdf crochet pattern is written in standard American crochet terms.

Many of you want to make a dog that looks like your own or a friend’s, so I’ve added an extra face colouring option to the pattern (see the second picture in the listing), along with some tips on how to customise the dog.

This is an moderate pattern made with basic stitches. The difficulty lies in attaching the front paws. Instructions for working up the body are well explained.

Size
If you use the recommended yarn, your German Shepherd will be 5.5 inch /14 cm high sitting

Materials
For this crochet dog you’ll need worsted weight Istex Lètt Lopi yarn and an E US/3.5 mm crochet hook. You’ll need two colours of yarn: barley - 1419 (1/4 of a 100-yard skein) and black sheep heather - 0052 (1/4). For the nose I’ve used a 12 mm animal safety dog nose. For the eyes I’ve used 8 mm animal safety eyes. You will also need pellets for weight in the body, fibrefill (I’ve used wool filling), and a pipe-cleaner for the tail is optional.

The crochet pattern contains
An intro with useful info. List of materials, tools and accessories needed. Brand and colour numbers of the needed yarn. A clear and colour coded description of how to crochet and assemble the animal, with instruction images next to the text and example pictures at the bottom to help you get everything right. All my patterns are text edited for correct English and have been tested by experienced crocheters before publishing.

Yarn
Istex Lett lopi. I strongly recommend using a fuzzy yarn because it gives the best result.

Gauge is unimportant for this pattern. If the pieces are crocheted tightly enough, they will not gape visibly when stuffed. You can make a little test swap to be sure.
