Dogwoods are special in Tennessee because they are early blooming trees that tell us Spring is here and because of their significance to Easter. The lightweight yarn and mesh backdrop helps the beauty of the flowers shine through! A perfect accessory for Easter and all through the summer!

I love crochet filet patterns. I think my brain likes the structure of the grid. I also like the images that we are able to create using positive and negative space. If you have never done filet work before, I recommend that you watch some videos. You will need to know how to use a filet chart.

You will need:

  • About 875yd of #2 cotton yarn. I used Cotton Kings Sultan Pastello.
  • 3.25mm hook
  • stitch marker

Skill Level: Intermediate
Gauge: 20 st wide and 9 rows in a 4”x4” square (double crochet)

My finished shawl is 75” across the top and 27” tall at the center point.
