This Easter Egg cover is designed to be worked around a refillable plastic Easter egg. It has been designed to coordinate with my Easter Egg Centerpiece Doily.

Plastic Easter eggs commonly come in two sizes, approximately 3 ¼” tall by 2 ¼” wide, and 2 ½” tall by 1 ¾” wide. However, there can be variation of up to ¼” in either dimension (or both!) so check the fit of the cover as you work. Making sure Round 1 fits around the largest circumference (where the halves of the egg join together) is a good initial test of your gauge.

This pattern is worked from the middle to the top, then from the middle to the bottom.

Materials (large - 3.25” egg)
1.5 mm steel crochet hook
Size 10 crochet thread:
• White 10 yds
• Dark 12 yds
• Light 15 yds
Gauge: Round 1 measures 7 ¼”

Materials (small - 2.5” egg)
1 mm steel crochet hook
Size 20 crochet thread or size 8 pearl cotton:
• White 9 yds
• Dark 11 yds
• Light 13 yds
Gauge: Round 1 measures 5 ¾”
