Doll Poncho
A while back my boy doll Enrique received a sombrero, so I decided to make him a poncho to go along with it.
This is a great project for a beginner knitter, since the entire poncho is worked in garter stitches, meaning you simply knit all stitches and rows. In addition, we will add a nice fringe to the edges of the poncho when we’re done, and I’m providing instructions on how to do that as well.
You will also need simple sewing skills.
The poncho made with this pattern is meant to fit an 18-inch American Girl doll, as shown in the pictures. However, they will also fit similar dolls, such as Our Generation, My Life As, and others. I added a sizing chart to the pictures, to help you compare your dolls to the American Girl dolls.
It is recommended that you read entirely through the pattern before starting with it. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.
For this pattern I used:
~ Mainstays 100% Acrylic yarn, 4-medium in the colors orange, green, yellow, blue, red, purple.
~ Red Heart Super Saver Solids yarn, 4-medium in the colors mint green and pink.
You can use any other 4-medium worsted weight yarn you choose.
~ Knitting needles size: US 8 - 5.00 mm
~ Crochet Hook, size 5.00 mm (H). The crochet hook is only used to help attach the fringe
- I want to keep my patterns free for everyone to use, but in return I would like to ask you not to sell them or claim them as your own. You are free to sell the completed projects you make with my patterns, however.
Have fun, and happy knitting!
