Dolly hat
Dolly is the name of a suite for piano four-hands composed by the French Gabriel Fauré, dedicated to a beloved child called… Dolly. Its music is full of charm, tenderness and child pranks.
As a musician and knitter, I often think about similarities between these two arts. Designing is like composing; the piece we conceive could have an infinity number of versions and interpretations. Music and knitting help us reflect on our lives and channel our energy and emotions. Both make us travel to other worlds…
I must confess that knitting this hat caused me a sort of adrenaline. You don’t have to use a needle to work cables. That’s the grace of slipped stitches! I felt like I was cheating… You will knit it fast and smoothly, and no stitch will be lost!
Dolly hat reunites what Fauré’s music transmits: care, charm and… tricks!
I hope you enjoy knitting it!
