Soft and squishy scarves are the best for layering around your neck when it’s cold outside, so I designed this scarf with an easy to learn pattern stitch that provides some thick and soft insulation and is handsome on both sides; win-win!

This pattern is worked flat (back and forth) and does not curl on the edges or draw up so you can even forgo the blocking as I have done in the pictured scarf.

The finished scarf measures about 66 inches long and 5.5 inches wide. Gauge isn’t too important as long as the knitting is kept loose so that the stitches can expand nicely.

This pattern is suitable for an advanced beginner or intermediate knitter.

Yarn recommendations: I have blended together 2 different but related colors in the pictured scarf. If you like that look then be sure to choose 2 colors that are happy with each other. You can, of course, forgo the color blending and use 2 skeins of the same color for a solid effect scarf. Solid colors, light or even medium variegation tonals will all work with this pattern.

Materials:
• Yarn: Malabrigo Rios, 100% superwash merino, worsted weight (2 skeins or 200 g total). As shown: 1 skein in Glitter, # 048 and 1 skein in Volcan, # 227.
• Size 6 (US) circular needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
