I made this scarf for a friend and ardent Harry Potter fan. I knew she would like the scarf in any way it was fashioned. But I like symbolism and numbers are easy to associate with the Harry Potter tale.

This scarf is knit in the round in a muffler style. This makes it warmer than a single layer and keeps the design simple. No purling means no inconsistent stitching in my case. With the three balls of yarn, my scarf measures 7 inches wide and 70 inches long (not counting fringe). I had about 50 yards of yarn left of each color, so you could probably do another repeat and still have enough for fringe.

I used Plymouth Yarn’s Encore worsted weight in two colors.
2 balls of Deep Burgandy, Color no. 0999
1 ball of Golden Glow, Color no. 0460

Gauge isn’t critical in this project since you may want to make it to suit yourself or cast on the number of stitches to suit the length of your circular needle.
