Don't Blink Illusion Scarf (Doctor Who)
Construction and Size
For illusion knitting, when the scarf is viewed straight on, the colors will form stripes. But when the scarf is viewed from an angle, the pattern—Don’t Blink—will be revealed. Gauge is not critical; however, for the effect of the illusion to show well, you need a fairly firm fabric, so adjust your needle size so your stitches are not loose. Pattern includes both written directions as well as charts.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
As far as the knitting itself, you just use knit and purl stitches. It’s the order they are placed in that is most important.
Materials
US 7 / 4.5 mm needles
The sample used exactly one skein of Cascade 220 for each color; several of the test knitters used more, so the pattern calls for two skeins of each color.
Notes
Thank you to my test knitters (yarnsmybff, MariyaDavydova, ftmhling, tutuknit, gcolby1, Kirknits, and finishyourrow) and tech editor (kwunder) who provided valuable feedback.
