Tutorials are provided in the Western knitting style. If you are an Eastern/Combined knitter and are unable to understand them, please contact me and I will attempt to help :)
This seamless tubular scarf is knit in the round. It has a flared, doubled-back effect at the top and bottom of the tube, which adds a little weight to the edges. This is accomplished with a provisional cast on and a sewn bind off, for which photo tutorials are provided.
I have provided calculations so that you can knit this tubular scarf in the yarn weight of your choice.
Approximate yarn requirements
Scrap yarn for provisional cast on plus two colours of yarn – main colour and highlight color. Amount of yarn depends on weight used, my estimates are as follows :
- Light Fingering (3 ply) - approx 400-450m (436-491yds) main colour plus 200-230m (218-251yds) highlight colour
- Fingering (4 ply) - approx 350-400m (382-436yds) main colour plus 160-200m (174-218yds) highlight colour
- Sport (5 ply) - approx 350-400m (382-436yds) main colour plus 130-180m (142-196yds) highlight colour
- DK (8 ply) - approx 250-350m (273-382yds) main colour plus 110-140m (273-382yds) highlight colour
- Worsted (10 ply) - approx 150-200m (164-218yds) main colour plus 70-100m (164-218yds) highlight colour
