The crochet hook case that I have had since I started crocheting has little drawings of flowers on it, and I wanted to try to crochet them! I began by making a pillow and I really enjoyed crocheting the flower squares, so I decided to make a blanket version! The pattern for the blanket is a little different as the squares are larger.

I used Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/6 yarn (100% cotton, 105 m (114 yd) / 50 g (1.75 oz) skeins): 6 dark brown, 3 old rose, 3 pastel pink, 3 petunia pink, 3 petrol green, 2 light jeans blue, 1 light sky blue, 3 almond, 3 pastel yellow, and 4 curry (2 skeins for the squares and 2 for the border). To join the squares, I used Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 (100% cotton, 160 m (175 yd) / 50 g (1.75 oz) skeins): 1 beige. Any lightweight yarn will work well for this blanket!

The squares are joined with a single crochet stitch in the backs of the squares. I used the 8/4 yarn to join them as it ensures that the joining seam is thinner and less noticeable; however, you could definitely join the blanket with the same yarn as the squares. Additionally, the pattern for the border can be adapted easily if you would like to increase or decrease the number of granny squares.

There is a video on my YouTube channel where we crochet one of the squares together. If you are new to colorwork, I hope the video will be helpful! There are also some pictures included in the written pattern to explain the steps. I hope you enjoy the pattern!
