Door County Sunsets
When I think about this pattern, it will always remind me of our recent trip to Door County, WI. When we set out, this poncho was more than halfway finished, and I was lucky enough to do some road trip knitting. I also worked in a few more rounds during our travels up and down the peninsula, as we marveled at the big water views of Lake Michigan on one side and Green Bay on the other. I was nearly at the finish line by the time we returned home.
We were inspired by the outstanding art and craftsmanship in the galleries, visited Knit Whit’s yarn shop, shopped at a few “all things cherry” stores and even had our own cherry pie taste test comparison, drawing belly laughs from a group of fellow travelers in the parking lot, as they watched us, forks in hand, devour a slice of cherry pie - tailgate fashion. Yummy, hilarious work, indeed.
We stayed in Egg Harbor, and I particularly enjoyed peaceful sunset walks which always brought me near the water. If you haven’t been to Door County, you might check it out. If you have, I bet you can’t wait to return. It’s a magical place. I hope you enjoy this knit.
