Doose’s Market, owned by Taylor Doose—who also sits on the Stars Hollow Tourist Board, the Stars Hollow Neighborhood Watch, The Stars Hollow Business Association, and the Stars Hollow Citizens for a Clean Stars Hollow, as well as owning and running Taylor’s Olde Fashioned Soda Shoppe—seems to have everything a citizen of Stars Hollow needs. Situated in the middle of town near Luke’s Diner, Doose’s Market is where much of the town gossip occurs (in addition to a fake murder scene planted by Jess in Season 2), and where Rory has two big firsts: her first kiss and her first time shoplifting, and is also the store where Dean works. A rule-follower to the core, Taylor is a constant thorn in the side of anyone who needs to run something by the Town Selectman. With his deep passion for Stars Hollow, he quietly begins buying up all the town property, becoming even more controlling. He later introduces the first (unwarranted) stoplight, wields the town meetings to work in his favor, changes the street name of the Dragonfly Inn to Sores and Boils Alley, and is masterful in his manipulation. Played by Michael Winters, the role of Taylor Doose was only supposed to be a four-episode arc, yet he continued to be asked back, eventually appearing in all seven seasons.

Perfect for stashing away a box of cornstarch (just make sure you pay for it!), this market tote is a great way to show your love for Taylor and support Doose’s Market and his Olde Fashioned Soda Shoppe. Worked from the bottom up, the bag is started with a fat panel for the base. Stitches are then picked up and knit around all four edges and worked in the round. The base, side panels, and handles are worked in garter stitch with the yarn doubled to reinforce the structure, and stranded colorwork advertises both of Taylor’s businesses. While it can’t transport you to Stars Hollow every time you need groceries, shopping with this bag in hand is certainly the next best thing.
