With its two layers, this might just be the warmest, cosiest shawl ever. Although the second layer underneath is completely optional, it is the perfect opportunity to introduce a stunning pop of colour, which can be peeped through the eyelets in the Argyle-inspired texture pattern on the front piece.

You’ll work the textured front piece first. Beginning at one end with just a small number of stitches, the shawl will gradually take shape as you work increases along one side, before switching to decreases at the midway point. The contrast layer is joined as you go, using selvedge stitches along each edge of the main piece, so there’s no sewing required - you can even just stuff any loose ends between the two layers if you really want to avoid picking up a darning needle!
