Dotted Stripes
A simple yet quirky garter stitch blanket, with a unique colour transition.
Dotted Stripes essentially has no ‘wrong’ side, making it tricky to weave in your ends from the colour changes.
We have included a nifty little tutorial at the end of the pattern for weaving in your ends, for a nearly invisible finish which will help to maintain the reversible fabric.
Materials
1 ball each in 5 different colours
( A, B, C, D & E)
of Cascade 128 Superwash Chunky
6mm 100cm circular needles
1 locking stitch marker
Darning needle for grafting and to weave in ends
Gauge
As this blanket was designed with a superwash yarn and all superwash yarns have a tendency to grow when washed, we have provided two gauges and finished measurements - Unblocked and Blocked.
Unblocked – 16sts and 17 rows per 4 inches / 10cm
Finished measurements – 27 inches / 68cm by 27 inches / 68cm
Blocked – 14sts and 12 rows per 4 inches / 10cm
Finished measurements – 28 inches / 71cm by 33 inches / 84cm
You will notice that the un-blocked blanket is square and the blocked blanket has grown more in length than width, becoming a rectangle.
Garter stitch is notorious for growing in length at the best of times. By adding a superwash yarn to the mix, we gained 6 inches / 16cm in length after blocking.
The colours used in the sample were:
