The “Dotty” carpet is done in the round, but the rounds mustn’t be closed with a slip stitch - it’s supposed to be a spiral.

My version of this carpet has 190 cm in diameter, but it can be made in any size - it only depends on when you stop.

I used about 1450 meters of cotton string 4-5 mm thick. The whole work took me about 12 hours and I used a 9 mm crocheting hook (it’s size M or N in the US).
