Double Art-Nouveau Scarf
This pattern has been updated to include written instructions with the two-color chart!
This scarf requires knowledge of double-knitting and of circular knitting. Knowledge of techniques like two-strand cast-on are required.
This is a lovely infinity scarf, double-knitted in luxurious “Diadem”. I used a deep purple colorway called “Amethyst” with a tonal blue called “Turquoise”.
I knitted this on circular needles, which made it very easy to follow the chart. The pattern is worked over 50 stitches. For my scarf, I cast on 200 stitches, and therefore had four pattern motifs to work.
The first round after casting on is knit with both colors, the second is purled with both colors. On the third round, the colors are separated (I put the turquoise as the base color on the side I was working, with purple as the contrast).
The pattern is only 35 rounds long!
Upon completion of the pattern rows, the colors are worked together in the last two rounds: one round is knitted, the other is purled and bound off. Weave in the ends and get ready for the complements when you swear your new scarf!
Any weight yarn and color combination can be substituted for the KnitPicks “Diadem”. The gauge will change with a different weight yarn and needles, and is therefore not a critical factor.
