This is a simple 2-color double brioche scarf. This pattern can be used to gain familiarity with the technique. 2-color double brioche creates an interesting pattern in the rib “troughs”, that I think is particularly attractive.

The finished scarf is 5” by 80” after light blocking. Size is easily adjusted by adding repeats and adjusting the length knitted. Making these adjustments will alter the amount of yarn required, so plan accordingly.

You should have some familiarity with single brioche rib as double brioche is an extension of that technique. If you want to try 2-color single brioche first try Nancy Marchant’s BEBEB Scarf.

I have written a couple of photo-tutorials to help with the stitches in this scarf

The pattern also makes use of the German twisted cast on and Jenny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off.

Errata: Please update your pattern if your version is earlier than 2014-05-04 (May 4, 2014). There is an error in the first setup row. The setup row should read:

Setup Row 1a (WS DC): P1, * SL2YO, p2 * , repeat from * to * to last 3 Sts, SL2YO, P1 ; slide.
