Make a super cozy baby blanket that little ones can take with them through the toddler years into early childhood! All you need to know are basic double crochet stitches. Insert your hook beneath dcs and you’ll master the dc spike stitch, giving your blanket a lovely woven texture. This is a nice neutral option! Great for baby showers where the parents aren’t sharing or finding out the gender ahead of time.
This blanket turned out bigger than I’d expected! The super bulky weight yarn tends to stretch as you work and the project gets heavier and heavier as you go! Use the gauge information to adjust as you see fit. Since it’s such a large blanket, I think it would also look lovely with a narrower start (say, a starting ch of 52) and fewer yarn colors. You’ll end up with a truer ombre if you omit the bold orange and black skeins, for example. You could also try sizing down to a size N/9mm crochet hook, which is what the yarn label suggests. Good luck and enjoy!
