Double Decrease Washcloth
This garter fabric washcloth appears to be two triangles; however, to form a square, stitches are decreased in the middle starting from the cast-on stitches that will form two sides of the square to the last double decrease at the opposite corner. This forms a straight match line from corner to corner. Once the pattern is established, alternating between decrease and even rows is easily remembered. Slip stitches are added to mimic the “chained” appearance of the cast-on. Play with color by adding a contrasting stripe or use self-striping yarn. This project is a good stash buster! Dimension: approximately 9.25” square. Gauge not critical; however, different yarn weight or needle size will alter dimension. Fiber: linen, cotton, or cotton/linen blend.
