Double Jump Cowl
This cowl is worked from the bottom up, in the round, on circular needles, and easily converts to a headband. DK yarn is recommended, but feel free to mix and match!
Materials:
Version 1
1 skein Green Mountain Spinnery Mewesic (100% fine wool; 180 yds (165 m)/2 oz (56 g)), in Mean Mr. Mustard (MC)
1 skein Maine Yarn & Fiber Supply Rockport (45% baby alpaca, 45% merino wool, 10% cultivated silk; 245 yds (224 m)/3.5 oz (100 g)), in Carbon (CC)
Version 2
2 skeins Maine Yarn & Fiber Supply Dexter DK (100% superwash merino wool; 280 yds (256 m)/4 oz (115 g)), in Barkskins (MC) and Chuffed (CC)
OR approximately 100 yds (91 m) of DK weight yarn for MC, and 75 yds (69 m) of DK weight yarn for CC.
If using the yarns listed above, you will have enough yardage to make two cowls. For example, if working Version 1, you will be able to make the first cowl with Mewesic as the MC and Rockport as the CC, and the second with Rockport as the MC and Mewesic as the CC.
16” 41 cm circular needles, in US 3 (3.25 mm) and US 5 (3.75 mm) (or size needed to obtain gauge)
1 stitch marker, darning needle or crochet hook for weaving in ends
GAUGE:
22 sts & 28 rounds = 4 inches (10 cm) in Colorwork Chart after blocking.
Finished Dimensions:
Approximately 23 1⁄4” (59 cm) circumference, 6” (15 cm) depth
Note: Dimensions can easily be changed. Please note that any additional repeats or depth will require more of each yarn.
Double Jump can also easily be knit using yarn at different gauges. If you desire the same circumference but wish to knit with thicker yarn, subtract a multiple of the pattern repeat to the total number of stitches cast on. If you desire the same circumference but wish to knit with thinner yarn, add a multiple of the pattern repeat to the total number of stitches cast on. In either case, make sure to use needles appropriate for the gauge of the new yarn.
