Double-knit Socks
by Jean Wright
Yarn requirements (from pattern): The main yarn is worsted-weight, at 12 wraps per inch and about 1160 yards per pound; the lining yarn is a sportweight. Jean used 2 1/2 ounces (70 grams) main yarn and 2 ounces (56 grams) lining yarn, both in two-ply yarns.
Commercial equivalent: Pattern was test knit in Lamb’s Pride Superwash (100% wool), 2 100 g. skeins each of light and dark.
Note: This book was published by Interweave Press as the outcome of a sock design contest in Spin Off magazine, using handspun yarns. Commercial yarns equivalents are given for most patterns.
