Hand knit in the round on double point needles, this is the most versatile, double thick, convertible mitten with a twist of FUN!
Keep your hands warm while freeing your fingers and thumb to zip that coat or to answer you phone. Just push your fingers and your thumb and you have access to your digits without removing the mitten to get there. Shake your hand and full coverage returns. No flap. Just a unique mitt with an end that resembles an opening flower.

As written, the pattern will make a mitt to fit the average woman’s hand. It is easily adjustable by adding or subtracting rows to make the hand section longer or shorter.
100 grams of a DK weight yarn will make a pair. Light worsted works, also. However, you may be playing yarn chicken at 135 yards typically in that weight.
I tend to knit loosely, so any size double point needles that will give you a nice fabric will work. You could even start with your favorite mitten pattern and switch to this one after the thumb gusset.
The mitten is self lined which makes it a warm accessory.
Embellishments are easy to add and yarn ends can hide easily between layers.
Amaze your friends by showing and hiding fingers with just a shake of your hand. (Maybe this should be called The Hand Shake mitten!) I want you to have success with this pattern! Email me if you have questions.
