The DOUBLE RIDGE BEANIE is a fun and quick project to make. It features the half double crochet and half double crochet slip stitch patterns which create a beautiful knit look when combined.

SKILL LEVEL: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate
MATERIALS
Mary Maxim Aspen (Bulky Weight - #5 Acrylic Yarn;100 g, 3.5 oz. approximately 140 yards)
Size L/8 mm Crochet Hook (or size needed to obtain gauge)
Scissors
Tape Measure
Tapestry Needle
Pompom
GAUGE: 12 sts x 8 rows = 4 inches (see pattern)
FINISHED MEASUREMENT: Fits an average adult woman’s head; 19” circumference (without stretching) x 9” hat height
STITCHES AND ABBREVIATIONS | US Terminology
BLO – Back Loop Only
Ch(s) – Chain(s)
Prev – Previous
Rep – Repeat
RS – Right Side
Sl St(s) – Slip Stitch(es)
St(s) – Stitch(es)
SC – Single Crochet
WS – Wrong Side
HSlst – Half Double Crochet Slip Stitch – Yarn over, insert your hook into the next st, yarn over, and pull through the stitch and the 2 loops on your hook.
NOTES
- Read the pattern carefully before starting.
- This pattern is worked sideways and then seamed together at the end.
- The beginning ch 1 does NOT count as a stitch.
- Numbers in ( ) at the end of the round indicate the number of stitches in that round.
- Not all heads conform to sizes by age; please measure for a more accurate fit. If you wanted to adjust the size of your beanie, you may add/deduct two rows and end with Row 2. If you want your beanie to be slouchy, add a few more chains to the foundation chain.
