A dovecot is a historic structure that contained openings for pigeons and doves to nest. The interlock transition row on this shawl reminded me of the openings in the dovecots. Created in standard crochet, most of the shawl is double crochet, with simple interlock crochet used only for the transition between colors. As pictured, this shawl is made from 800yds of Berroco Ultra Wool Fine, but other fingering weight yarns can be used. The pattern is simple and well suited to using up remnants, as the number of rows per color can be easily modified. As pictured, colors and yardage used include: A Pine (53149) 46yds, B Forget me not (53162) 70yds, C Heather (53153) 130yds, D Rosemary (53158) 139yds, E Stonewashed (53147) 105yds, F Ocean (53152) 118yds, G Lavender (53157) 134yds, H Driftwood (53104) 58yds.
