When I was a teenager I had a big, cozy sweater that I wore until it fell apart. The stitch pattern was my favorite aspect of it and I’ve always wanted to recreate that stitch. I scoured the internet and stitch dictionaries, but was never able to find “the stitch”. So, I started swatching. I swatched and swatched until I finally figured it out! I call it Double Dip Fisherman Rib because you work a k1b/ p1b (knit 1 below/ purl 1 below) into certain stitches twice. Knitting below/ purling below twice into a stitch creates super plump, 3D stitches adjacent to those double dipped stitches. These pudgy little stitches create a warm, squishy, visually interesting fabric that I hope you enjoy as much as teenage (and grown up) Hailey!

The vest pieces are knit flat, blocked separately and seamed together at the shoulders and sides. The button band is picked up along the front edges and back neck and worked in one piece. The armhole ribbing is picked up from the armhole edges and worked in the round.
