Down-Under Bag
This crocheted bag serves as a shoulder bag or backpack. The bag size can be altered by reducing or increasing the size of the bottom disc. If larger, buy additional yarn. Though our model is not lined, it could be fitted easily with cotton lining. The circular bottom benefits from a plastic or cardboard insert. The cord can be a knitted I-cord, as here, or a crocheted SC foundation row or reinforced chain. We chose the I-cord because it is smoother than its crocheted counterpart. We covered a vintage buckle with crochet to form the slider, but you can use a craft-store metal buckle meant for sewers. A vintage buckle with small holes around the keeper can be used without the crochet covering; the cord has to have a good grip, so, if holes are not small, the buckle has to be covered.
