This scarf is a good skill builder for the less experienced knitter. Required skills: cast on, knit, knit front back, purl, purl 2 together, and bind off.

This is a scarf, so gauge is not as important as your satisfaction with the resulting fabric. Needle size should be adjusted to get a width in the vicinity of 5 or 6 inches.

This design was inspired by and fits the criteria of the Scarves for Special Olympics program. It is my hope that those who take advantage of the free download will make up at least one scarf for donation to a charitable cause.

This scarf was designed specifically to help the Special Olympics athlete look ‘faster’ by virtue of its diagonal striping. It is nicely reversible, doesn’t curl and can be striped any way you want depending on how much you have of each color.

Thank you to Cindy Harrison. She is the test knitter of my dreams.
