Downtown Shorties
The inspiration for this pattern is from my train ride in and out of Downtown Toronto every day. As you leave the city, the skyline slowly fades and almost vanishes past the lovely Victorian houses and relaxing neighbourhoods. The slip-stitch pattern mimics the looming skyscrapers of Downtown, that gradually fade into the single-storey houses of the suburbs.
The pattern is very beginner-friendly written for top-down socks, but can be easily knit (in reverse order) as toe-up socks, if you are an intermediate or advanced knitter. You are encouraged to play with different colours of yarns for contrasting heels and toes, like shown in the pictures.
Please Note: The pattern includes instructions for a standard heel with gusset decreases, if you need. The sample was knit with the popular short-row heel however, you are encouraged to explore other heels, of your choice, as an option.
