Downtown Twisted Poncho
The Downtown Twisted Poncho is designed for the adventurous beginning knitter but also reaches out to the more advanced knitter.
For those who want to learn or improve skills when using various lace patterns, this is an excellent opportunity. As you will see, the directions have been divided into easy-to-follow patterns.
The more advanced knitter may choose to venture from the written pattern by trying different weights of yarn or even adding your own favorite lace pattern.
As an added bonus, the braided fringe is built-in, there are no separate tassels to be added after knitting.
So, grab the pattern and some yarn and join your friends in doing the Downtown Twist.
Use 4 or more different yarns of different textures and sizes. All are used singly. These yarns have been used, but you only need 1 skein from each Color group:
Color A: Noro Silk Garden/Berroco Remix – 109+ yards: thickest yarn
Color B: Berroco Vivo/Ella Rae Marmel/Lang Paradise – 275+ yards – most yardage
Color C: Queensland Cairns/Berroco Isola or Vivo – 190+ yards
Color D: Katia Louvre – 180+ yards – thinnest
Small: before seaming shoulder - 46” long by 40” wide
Medium: before seaming shoulder - 52” long by 40” wide
Large: before seaming shoulder – 58” long by 40” wide
Yardage varies with personalization, feel free to make modifications with the knowledge that they will change how much yardage you will need. The Large will use nearly all of the yarn as written*
Size 7 needles, or size suggested for largest yarn, 24 or 32” circulars
Gauge is not very important, but if you know you are a tight knitter, use a size 8 needle. If you are a loose knitter, use a size 6.
