A smooth-jazz boomerang-shaped shawl using only 2 skeins of sock yarn and beginning with a tiny 3 st cast on.

Fans of The Muppet Shawl will recognize the cool stitch pattern from the Dr. Teeth-Inspired section.

Stitches are added to the right edge rapidly while decreases are made to the left edge—this creates the fun, asymmetrical shape that makes the toothy slip-stitch pattern even more impressive. The pattern is easily memorized once you get a few inches into it and is fun to knit!

The shawl measures approximately 87” along the right edge, 41” along the cast off edge, and 58” along the left edge.

Gauge: 22 sts & 37 rows/4” (blocked) and 19.5 & 37 rows (blocked) in the Teeth stitch pattern on size 5
needles (or size to obtain gauge).
Finished Measurements: The shawl measures approximately 86” long, 41” along the cast off edge, and 58” along the left edge (when viewing from the RS with the cast on edge at the bottom).
Materials:
1 skein of the Main Color (MC) in Madelinetosh Twist Light (420 yds/114 g, 75% merino-25% Nylon shown in Penumbra), and 1 skein of the Contrasting Color (CC) in Madelinetosh Twist Light (420 yds/114 g, 75% merino-25% Nylon, shown in Liquid Gold), or
420 yds of fingeringweight yarn in EACH of the colors (the MC and the CC).

If you’re working with skeins that have less than the 420 yardage, you can easily remove a 4 row repeat from the “teeth” sections and/or remove a 6 row repeat from each of the solid color sections.
